Melinda Butterworth is an Assistant Professor in the Environmental and Earth Sciences Department at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon. Trained as a health/medical geographer, her academic interests center around two broad questions:

1. How do socio-ecological factors shape the emergence of and spread of environmentally mediated diseases?
2. How do individuals and communities understand and respond to these diseases?
